Einer der Pioniere in der Herstellung emissionsfreier Busse,Wrightbus, hat sich einen weiteren großen Auftrag für seinen weltweit ersten Wasserstoff-Eindeckerbus gesichert: Der deutsche Verkehrsbetrieb Saarbahn GmbH hat 28 Kite Hydroliner bestellt, von denen die ersten 5 im diesem Jahr ausgeliefert werden sollen.
Zusammen mit der Saarbahn Netz GmbH beschäftigt die Saarbahn GmbH rund 580 Mitarbeiter und befördert jährlich etwa 43,7 Millionen Fahrgäste auf der Straße und auf der Schiene.
Der Auftrag ist ein weiterer bedeutender Deal für Wrightbus auf dem europäischen Markt. Das Unternehmen mit Sitz in Nordirland erobert so eine weitere Region im globalen Markt für nachhaltigen Verkehr. Der erfolgreiche Abschluss folgt auf Geschäfte in Deutschland mit den Unternehmen West Verkehr, das 12 Eindecker Kite Hydroliner erhält, und der Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH (RVK), die einen Vertrag für bis zu 60 Kite Hydroliner unterzeichnet hat. Weitere Verträge über 51 Busse von 2 zusätzlichen Kunden wurden bereits in 2024 unterzeichnet.
Wrightbus bietet eine große Bandbreite von emissionsfreien Bussen in Europa und Großbritannien an. Sie werden am Hauptsitz von Wrightbus in Ballymena hergestellt. Jedes Jahr entstehen dort Hunderte von neuen hochqualifizierten Arbeitsplätzen, da der Hersteller grüne Innovationen für den Transportsektor weiter vorantreibt.
Jean-Marc Gales, Chief Executive von Wrightbus, sagte: "Dies ist ein bedeutender Deal für Wrightbus, Saarbahn GmbH und die Menschen im Saarland. Wir freuen uns sehr, noch mehr emissionsfreie Busse zur Unterstützung klarer Netto-Null-Ziele bereitzustellen.“
"Saarbahn ist der größte öffentliche Verkehrsbetreiber in Saarbrücken und Umgebung. Daher wird die Ergänzung der Flotte um Wasserstoffbusse eine bedeutende positive Auswirkung auf die Umwelt der Region haben", so Jean-Marc Gales weiter.
Projektleiter Torsten Burgardt von der Saarbahn sagte: „Wir sind äußerst erfreut, mit Wrightbus zusammenzuarbeiten, um emissionsfreie Busse auf die Straßen des Saarlandes zu bringen. Wir nehmen unsere Umweltverantwortung sehr ernst, und dies ist der erste Schritt, um sicherzustellen, dass in den nächsten drei Jahren die Hälfte unserer Flotte aus emissionsfreien Bussen besteht.“
