This year marks a major milestone for Wrightbus as we celebrate 80 years of British manufacturing, engineering innovation, and commitment to delivering world-class public transport solutions.
Founded in 1946, Wrightbus has grown to become one of the UK and Europe’s fastest-growing bus manufacturers, pioneering zero-emission transport with our range of FCEV and BEV double and single deck vehicles. For eight decades, we have proudly supported thousands of skilled jobs at our Ballymena facility and across a supply chain spanning 47 UK counties.
From heritage vehicles to today’s cutting-edge clean transport technology, our story has always been driven by innovation, people, and progress.

Help us rebuild our history
As we look back on 80 years of Wrightbus, we also want to rebuild and preserve our shared history - and we need your help.
When Wrightbus was rescued from administration in 2019 by Jo Bamford CBE, a significant amount of historical archive material was unfortunately lost. As part of our anniversary celebrations, we are now working to restore our records, and we’re calling on the Wrightbus community to be part of it.
We would love to hear from you if you have:
Photographs of Wrightbus vehicles through the decades
Images from rallies, depots, or factory visits
Memories or pictures from family members who worked at Wrightbus in Ballymena
Any stories connected to Wrightbus buses in service over the years
Whether it’s a treasured snapshot or a piece of everyday history, your contribution can help us rebuild a richer picture of our past
Share your memories
We're collecting submissions until 14th August 2026 to help create a new Wrightbus archive. Selected images and stories may be featured in future displays at our offices and across our website, helping to preserve the legacy of Wrightbus for generations to come. If you have something to share, please submit on the email id below:
Together, we can celebrate where we’ve come from - and where we’re going next.
