Leading zero-emission bus manufacturer Wrightbus has appointed an industry expert to focus on customer support as it continues to strengthen its senior team.
Graham Hamlyn – who was pivotal in setting up the firm’s NewPower repowering business - will head up a team of seven people in his new role as Director of Global Technical Customer Support.
With over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, Graham combines technical expertise with a sharp understanding of customer needs across international markets.
Graham, who now leads global technical support operations for the company’s cutting-edge hydrogen and battery-electric vehicles, is no stranger to Wrightbus having worked at the firm for the past 18 months.
During that time, he was instrumental in establishing NewPower, the company’s Oxfordshire-based groundbreaking repowering division that converts mid-life diesel buses into zero-emission electric vehicles — an innovation accelerating fleet decarbonisation across the UK.
Earlier in his career, Graham spent twelve years at Honda, where he contributed to global vehicle development programmes in the Powertrain division and developed an appreciation for detailed customer requirements. Notably, in 1999, he established a European customer technical support team at Honda EU’s head office in Frankfurt for UK manufactured vehicles, laying the groundwork for enhanced technical support across the continent.
He later joined Aston Martin, where he spent nine years, culminating in his role as Senior Programme Manager for the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage and its derivatives - a position in which he led the development of one of the brand’s most iconic performance vehicles.
Wrightbus CEO, Jean-Marc Gales, said: “We pride ourselves on the quality of our vehicles. As we continue to expand, we want to ensure that our customers are getting that same high-quality experience once the buses have left our factory.
‘With a fleet of more than 2,000 zero-emission buses, and more being added every week, the creation of this role will ensure that our many customers have a dedicated technical support team to understand, analyse and drive resolution of technical issues alongside All Service One.
“Graham brings a vast amount of technical and customer care experience with him.”
Graham and his team of specialists will deliver responsive, world-class technical support to Wrightbus customers to help redefine public transport for a cleaner, smarter future.
Graham said: “We know how important it is for our customers to keep their buses on the road for as much time as possible – and this new team is here to ensure that happens.
“By working closely with our team of engineering experts, we’re responsible for implementing robust technical solutions to make sure our products are the best they can be.”
